WELDER TRAINING (PART-TIME)

About Program

The Welder Training Certificate Program is a 27-week, full-time course designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical skills required to begin a career in welding. This comprehensive program trains students in a variety of welding processes and techniques used across manufacturing, construction, and heavy industry sectors.

Students receive instruction in blueprint reading, welding safety, and the use of professional welding equipment. With a strong focus on hands-on training, students are prepared to perform flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead welds in accordance with Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) standards. The program also supports preparation for CWB and TSSA welding certification tests.

Program Highlights:

  • 27-week intensive training with 400 total hours
  • Instruction in major welding processes: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and Oxy-Acetylene
  • Includes training on grinders, brakes, shears, and metal shaping equipment
  • Designed to prepare students for certification testing through CWB and/or TSSA
  • Projects that simulate real welding job scenarios to build job-ready skills

Courses Include:

  • Welding Theory & Blueprint Reading
  • Oxy-Acetylene Welding (OAW) & Cutting
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
  • Welding Safety & Protective Procedures
  • Practical Lab Training in Welding Positions (Flat, Horizontal, Vertical, Overhead)
  • Use of Welding Tools & Equipment (Grinders, Brakes, Shears, Hand Tools)
  • Certification Test Preparation (CWB & TSSA)
