Dental Radiography - H.A.R.P. Approved

About Program

The Dental Radiography Course is a 100-hour, full-time training program that introduces students to the science and safe use of radiation in dentistry.


Aligned with the Healing Arts Radiation Protection (HARP) legislation in Ontario, this course prepares students to operate dental X-ray machines confidently and responsibly. Delivered in a hybrid format, it combines self-directed online theory, simulation training, and in-person practical sessions at Anderson College campuses.


Upon successful completion of DEN 105 or DEN 104, students receive a certificate proving they are qualified to operate an X-ray machine under Ontario HARP standards.

Program Highlights:

  • 100 hours total: 50 hours online theory, 10 hours online simulation, 40 hours in-person practical training
  • Hybrid delivery allows flexible self-paced learning through Brightspace (D2L)
  • In-person sessions held on evenings and weekends at Anderson College campuses
  • Aligned with HARP standards and regulatory guidelines
  • Certificate of completion qualifies graduates to operate dental X-ray equipment in Ontario

  • Federal and Provincial Radiation Regulations
  • Online Exams with Respondus Lockdown Browser
  • Practical Hands-On Training in Lab Settings

Career Outcomes:

Graduates who successfully complete the HARP-approved dental radiography course may pursue roles such as:

  • Dental Radiographer (HARP-Certified)
  • Dental Assistant (with radiography responsibilities)
  • X-ray Operator in Dental Offices
  • Dental Hygiene or Dental Admin roles with HARP certification requirement

Settings include:

  • General and Specialty Dental Clinics
  • Community Health Centres
  • Mobile Dental Units
  • Oral Surgery or Orthodontic Practices

Admission Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of dental terminology and procedures recommended
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Access to a computer and reliable internet for online learning
  • Ability to attend in-person sessions on evenings/weekends
  • Agreement to use Respondus Lockdown Browser for online exams
